I know recent posts on FIFC forum have commented on the dwindling gates. Well consider Hornchurch who played at home in front of well over 1000 twice recently, but once title won are now playing tonight at home to 310. How can you survive in a higher level at Nat south with those sort of numbers, but end of season so need to factor that in. Perhaps things aren't as bad as one thinks at Cheriton Road. Cheers to all esp Jambo who needs some therapy as seems to demean himself. Cheers Keith

It's not surprising our crowds have dwindled a bit, because it hasn't been much fun at home most of the time this season, especially the couple of months either side of Christmas - not just the bad results, but we weren't a good watch. I don't think the constant player ins and outs helped either as that connection we've had for years between supporters and players was largely lost. But things have been looking up for the last few weeks, the team has been more settled, some of the newer recruits are quite popular, and we've actually played well in the last three games, including the one we lost at Hastings.
I think we've still got some way to go and need to strengthen a bit, especially in midfield, if we are going to be challenging the play-off places next season, but if we can get off to a good start, surely the gates will start going up again.
As for Hornchurch, I was talking with one of their officials when they played at Cheriton Road this season and said I was surprised that, given that their crowds weren't very big, they seemed to have no trouble recruiting good players; he said "We've always got money." I didn't ask him where from, but I guess they must have a sugar daddy, or sugar daddies?
