Didn't play badly at all. Going 0-1 down after 42 seconds (enormous long throw that we didn't deal with) was a blow, as was the second that we didn't defend at all well, but we recovered, scored an excellent goal before half time and the second half was pretty even. We had one great chance to equalise, but sadly put it over the bar from close range.
Against some teams we might play worse and win.

You can't gift the opposition two goals, one after just 20 seconds and hope to get anything from the game.
Both were farcical but the second especially so. Total breakdown in communication between the defender and goalkeeper. This is not the first time this has happened recently, but we have been getting away with it.
Personally, I would go with Joe Coleman for the rest of the season.
We managed after that initial shock to play ourselves back into the game, and by half time we had pulled one back, a lovely strike from Dave Smith after some good work down the left by Michael Kedman (a cracking game from him today down the left flank ) and a nice pass from Lewis Collins.
Derry had to pull out today due to injury, and given the way we have come to rely on him It was a big setback. We tended to play ball into that space as if he were playing. Collins and Smith are not ideal for that role.
I felt we were the better team in the second half. Hastings are not as strong as when we played them earlier at our place, in my opinion. They played it out from the back but were very shaky doing so, Smith really should have scored when he robbed the full-back and only had the keeper to beat. He tried to get it onto his left and wasted the opportunity.
We brought Ababbio on for a ridiculous three last minutes plus injury time. He had one good sally down the right before the whistle. Should have come on earlier to have had any effect.
So, not a bad effort overall from the lads, but frustrating, we had enough chances for a draw at least.

A game we could have and perhaps should have come away with a point. We generously gave away two first half goals and Hastings failed to make the most of a number of good situations that they carved out. Our one decent bit of football resulted in a very well taken goal by Dave Smith and by half time we were still in the game. Second half much better, kept the ball as well as I have seen under AD. Fullbacks pushed on,created space and made it much easier to find a pass. But we did not find the intensity needed to win games like these until the last 15 minutes. Hastings hung on,we missed one glorious chance and disappointingly failed to test their keeper. Generally better though. I personally wouldn't play our keeper again, his blunder for their second goal and couldn't cope with their long throws. Surely Joe must play the remaining games. And don't let Eddie Allsop take anymore freekicks I am bored with watching opposing keepers'catching practice. Callum excellent throughout our best player.

If we play like we did today on the second half for the rest of the season I don’t see many teams beating us, a poor first half which we gifted hastings two goals and created a really good goal for ourselves through some brilliant play by Collins before smithy finished excellently, second half we had a point to prove and we played some brilliant football keeping the ball switching it left to to right we just couldn’t finish the chances we had, much like stumpy said we will play worse and probably win games.
