A gate of 2,500 at Hastings on Saturday was by far the biggest in our league.
It is a similar town to us geographically, so they must be doing something right to attract such an attendance. They play a nice style of football, as we saw against us, and have managed to bring through some good youngsters from their Acadamy, particularly their footballing centre-backs, who set the team's style of play.
Possible lessons there for us?

Gerry, it is likely that a significant number of customers were there simply because it was Hashtag Utd. A number who attended our game against them were either curious/online followers or list tickers.

A gate of 2,500 at Hastings on Saturday was by far the biggest in our league. Over 3300 at Dulwich (full house), and they're averaging 2500. However their location and demographic are completely different to us so not a good comparison. Agreed that Hastings scenario is similar to us.

They have been getting good crowds for a couple of years now, but that is their highest of the season, and its not as if Hashtag are local rivals or anything.
Of course, they are in with a shout of the play offs, which helps. Also anyone under 16 gets in free, which must surely boost attendances.
It's noticeable that our crowds have started to drop off a bit, probably down to our poor performances at home and the fact that all we have to play for is staying clear of the bottom four.
Be interesting to see if they start to pick up now that we are playing a little better, but maybe we'll have to wait until next season and a hopefully good start to see that happen.
At least we'll have the Dover game...

I'm sure you're right, Geoff - didn't we get more than a 1,000 against Hashtag, having only got about 800 (expected more) on Boxing Day against Hastings?
