Big one this. Cray just behind us. A win takes us 10 points clear of relegation. The 2 teams below Cray - Margate and Cheshunt - also play each other.
Let's hope the pitch defrosts nicely - sunny and above freezing (just) all day Tuesday. Wrap up warm folks!

Yep, fingers crossed. Ground will be frozen hard first thing in the morning (it is now), but, as you say, temperature will be above freezing (forecast 3 degrees above) all day, so you would hope it will thaw in time for the match - it's just that bit in the shadow of the granddad stand that's always a bit of a worry...

it's just that bit in the shadow of the granddad stand that's always a bit of a worry... The grandad stand has a temperature zone all of its own, ie freezing. Even in summer pre-season friendlies its been cold.

Board aim to have a 5G (or whatever it's called) pitch in the future. Would that have been playable tonight? Any other local clubs with 5G got a game on tonight (Ashford have an artificial pitch and their game on tonight)?
Something to aspire to?

However many G's it is, the "ground" doesn't freeze; but games can still be called off if they are wet on the surface and that water freezes, because then they turn into ice rinks.
I'm not the biggest fan of artificial pitches, I think a GOOD grass surface is better in every way - but better an artificial pitch than a poor grass one; ours, sadly, has been poor for several months now and it doesn't make for a good watch. I sometimes wonder if the team don't get a bit demoralised having to play every other game on it (maybe no co-incidence that we have performed better away than at home recently?)

for example, Hendon is a 1939s ground with a running track around the pitch. Compares badly to ours, but their pitch is excellent. It undoubtedly helped us.
