Hi all,
I am actually a Coventry City supporter, but am moving to Folkestone soonish (hopefully by the end of October)
Taking a keen interest in Invicta, as I want to embrace all things Folkestone.
You seemed to have a stab at the playoffs until it started to unravel a bit at the end of the season, so why are the odds so high this time out?
Do you all really think you will be in for a tough season ahead?
Wishing Invicta the best of luck for the campaign and hopefully I will be able to get to a few games when I finally move down.

Hi Foss-welcome to the forum. As a supporter of Coventry City you will be well used to the trials and tribulations we all encounter with local football club. As you will have read there have been major changes at FIFC with a lot of senior players leaving for clubs at lower level and many hard working administrators and officials moving on. New directors recently taken control. Too soon to ascertain where this will all lead? Bookie’s probably think so hence their long odds. Friendly games show very little but real test starts in seven days with a long journey up the motorway. Time will tell. Hope your intended move proceeds smoothly and you are able to enjoy some goalmouth action at Cheriton Road over the winter.

Cheers.
Definitely hope to pop along and have Invicta as my second club (if that's allowed 😉)
I did see there was some upheaval. We had so much at Coventry. It was ridiculous at times. Seems we have at least turned the corner.
Am I right in saying you look good going forwards, but are a bit short of quality and depth elsewhere?
I have been catching some highlights on YouTube, so am beginning to learn a bit about some of the players and style of the team.

Add to the above mix 2 relatively inexperienced managers. Lots of unknowns really.

Not exactly an unbiased view though I'm just in wait and see mode; clearly we carry a big goal threat. Defensively, who knows - we haven't seen a lot of the new additions, but what we have seen is encouraging. I don't think it's going to be dull....

Lies, lies and damn statistics. How does Stumpy's insightful analysis over the season compare with the end results? Good job by all and makes for good discussion

Seems that the ultimate surprise package is Wingate and Finchley as the polls in this thread had them bottom or second from bottom. Lies, lies and damn statistics. How does Stumpy's insightful analysis over the season compare with the end results? Good job by all and makes for good discussion I didn't start doing it until (I think) early December, so I haven't got so many wildly wrong predictions as some of the stuff above. Hornchurch have always been my predicted champions - and everyone else's as well - no brainer. As for the play-off teams, I've always had Chatham and Wingate & Finchley (who could still miss out); I've had Horsham in them for ages as well (although they might still mess it up). Although Billericay were my other prediction to start with, they dropped out when they went on that bad run and didn't come back in - although they might still make it. Enfield are the one that blindsided me a bit with a late good run. As for the bottom, I've had the four who are going to go down for a long time, but that was a bit of a no-brainer as well. And Invicta? Although at the very start the prediction said relegation candidates, we improved and for ages now I've had us to finish somewhere between 17th and 15th, which is where we will finish, 16th probably, although 15th is still possible. The only certainty about predictions is that a lot of them are going to be wrong - but I was always closer than those useless FWP ones

I think I'd predicted Chatham to go up (so-so) with Dulwich (nowhere near it).
I'd no idea where we'd end up. Didn't one of Richard Murrill's competitions need us to predict our position? I think I'd put 13th & was hoping for better. Again, not great.
Usually the bookies are spot on but not so much this season.
