FT 1-1 Bogey team? Or so we fall short vs the teams nearer the top? 5th though. Still in the mix.

FT 1-1 Bogey team? Or so we fall short vs the teams nearer the top? 5th though. Still in the mix. Bogey team? - it looks that way. We dominated most of the game. especially first half, without making a lot of clear chances. Excellent goal to go one up, and then they equalise with just about their only shot on target in the whole game. Given that it was from some distance and fairly wide out, it felt a bit of a soft one to concede - the video will show. Very frustrating for the fans and I expect for the players too.

Nothing too much wrong I don't think but they came with a game plan and left the build Kent mission accomplished.Their physio hardly returned to the dug out.I think he was their most forward member of the team 😂. Disappointing and frustrating but get your heads up and keep going.I know their type of game gets the results they want like some others in our league but we don't do that thank goodness.coys.👍

My thoughts? Absolutely dominant first half, all over them. So many chances not taken. When we went 1 up they immediately equalised. Who was your motm? I'm calling it, Alfie paxman

Frustrating to dominate against such a good side as Carshalton and not take all three points in the end.
I felt it was down to some excellent defending on the part of Carshalton, who put the shackles on Ade and Dave Smith, not allowing them to turn, and some poor decision making by Invicta in front of goal.
Fortunately, they could not do the same to MOTM Luca Wannadio and ran them raged whenever he got the ball and might well have had a hattrick on another day. Impressive player. Also impressive were Ronnie Dolan and particularly Ian Draycott. Best midfield performance that I have seen from him.
When we went ahead in the second half, I thought we would build on that and go further ahead, but instead, shortly after we scored they equalised with a long-range shot. Tim had got a hand to it but not enough to keep it out. We still had plenty of opportunities to win the game but indecision around the box cost us dearly and two valuable pints went astray.
Most of the results around us did not go our way, so we will have to make sure that we are at our best on Tuesday, get the points and back in the race.

We dominated the game and it was frustrating that they scored with about the only shot created on target. Sorry Gerry but I’m not convinced that it was the quality of the Carshalton defence that gave them an undeserved share of the points. We had a number of clear cut chances that simply were not converted.in the first half. Although he may have had a better game today, I’m sorry but Ian Draycott is not a midfielder and drafting him there as injury cover does not work. One of our most intelligent and competent footballers , Jordan Wright remains confined to bench warming duties and could well have made a difference today. First time I have seen Luke Wanadio and he looks impressive but did tend to drift out of the action for periods of play but took his goal well.

two valuable pints went astray. That sounds like a disaster, Gerry. Did you leave them on Dick Curner's table?

Totally agree about Jordan Wright being far too good to be on the bench.
Draycott can only do his best when picked and today he linked the play really well I thought. Ade and Dave Smith were off their game today. They both missed chances and their hold up play was not up to their usual standards. But credit to Carshalton Biffo they did not allow them to turn and the over lenient ref did not help them.
I too would have started with Jordan, far too good not to start. But then again, I would start with wing-backs and there does not seem much chance of that at present.

I didn't think it was good defending shackling of our forwards. It was more both Ade and Dave had poor games, which is going to happen. We had far too many chances not converted or even on target from a number of different sources not just from the front players. Luke W looked good today and took his goal well imo. I felt Tim could have done better for the goal again imo, but then as said, we should have done much better in front of goal and their goal should really have just been a consolation if we had taken just a couple of the many chances we had.
Only one sub made today. Looked like an enforced one. Up to that point I thought RJ had a good game. MeV slotted in very well. Maybe a change would have made a difference and may be it wouldn't have but then, as it is on many occasion, we will just never know will we.

Reflecting on the Game I’m still not quite sure how we walked out with 1 point instead of 3, Our Front 3 of Ade, Dave and Luke plus Alfie on the wing is one of the most dangerous attacking lines in the League, just think yesterday came down to not having our shooting boots on, doing everything right until it came up to the final third, too much hesitation in and around the box probably cost us the 3 points yesterday but a good showing from our Midfield especially Ronnie and RJ (before he came off)

From where I was stood (2nd half), Alfie in loads of space but everything played down the right up to the point where Luke realised this and came over to the left to open up the play, why oh why do we persist with this right side bias. In regards to Dave and Ade, Luke made their style of play appear very industrial with everything coming off Dave's knee and shin....can we practice trapping a ball and then using body shape/ strength to hold it up before passing....basics, and Ade, why oh why don't you pass it instead of running into a cul-de-sac and then acting all prissy because someone has the temerity to tackle you.... attitude all wrong. Anyway MOTM either Alfie or Luke🤔🤔🤔🤔 will go Luke for his skill and running and taking on defenders. As a big aside please please please Cugs get back to wingbacks, Jordan must be in the starting 11....all of this is just IMO😉🍺

Alfie - wasted as a left back should be further up the pitch where he will hurt teams.
Jordan or McCann should have been in the midfield as the ideal replacement for Heard.

Cannot understand the managers thinking regarding Jordan . He was treated exactly the same in his previous spell at the club when I think pure frustration prompted him to leave. I hope the present situation does not cause a repeat.

Jordan or McCann should have been in the midfield as the ideal replacement for Heard Jordan should have started. When someone told me Heardie was not playing I actually said to them that Jordan was the obvious replacement, but that Cugs would start Draycs, because his preferences are pretty clear. Don't understand them myself, Jordan is a far better midfield player than Draycs. Not knocking Draycs at all; I thought that yesterday was one of his better midfield performances, but he doesn't link play as well as Jordan. I'm honestly not sure what Jordan has done to be relegated to the bench-warmers; he was a regular starter, one of our most consistent players, then he missed a couple of games through injury and has hardly started a game since. Could hardly blame him if he decided at the end of this season that he's better off elsewhere. I really want to be wrong with this, but I'm beginning to worry that we might not make the play offs - not a prediction, just a worry.

I’m a little confused. So are we wanting to play 3-5-2 so Jordan has a position to play? And does that mean Luke doesn’t get a starting position? Or Ade or Dave? Or do we just say whoever is on the bench should always have started if we draw or lose a game.

I’m not sure how a fullback is the obvious replacement for an attacking midfielder For a start, Jordan has played mostly as a wing back this season and, more importantly, he has played nearly all his career, including his previous time with us, as a midfielder, one who chips in a few goals; he isn't prolific, but neither particularly is Draycs when he plays in that position - and he is not as good as Jordan at passing and linking play, which is the main part of a midfielder's role. Next you'll be telling us that Alfie is a full back
