Intersting (& sounds very different to Ade's commentary) rebelrebels.proboards.com/post/34564/threadMixed feelings after that really.
Football wise, the sexy stuff prevailed over the more 'agricultural' stuff. We were worthy winners and could've won by more.
The 'other stuff' left a sour taste in the mouth. Looks like we'll lose arguably our most consistent performer for three matches for 'getting involved'. 3-1 up with seconds to go was that really worth it?
Yet the Folkestone player who swung the punch at Cal that kicked it all off, gets to finish the game! You hope in those situations the officials are watching the same thing you are, and I could see it from the other side of the pitch.
Shouldn't be surprised as Ollie was elbowed earlier right between the ref and the linesman but they didn't see anything then either.
So the better team won and the grubby team didn't prevail. I don't think we need fear Invicta threatening the top on that performance, they're no Hornchurch.
But if the cost of that sending off is points dropped elsewhere we could end up getting caught up one of the others.

Cannot criticise the lads for effort, right to the end ( and after... looked like the fracas carried on down the tunnel) but tonight our over-emphasis on the direct ball to Ade and Dave just was not effective. Worthing is a good footballing side well adapted to their surface ( which we tend to struggle on ) and just kept the ball for long periods of the game. Although their goals were all preventable in my opinion. The second right from the restart was a real gift and effectively finished the game. But even for their first, the centre forward was allowed to turn and shoot, in our box. Lax. I thought that our new signing Panadio was brought in to balance the side but he just took over from Kieron down the left in front of Alfie. Leaving JV on his own down the right and Alfie, wasted in my opinion, at left-back. He looks a very good player but given where he played did not affect the game. particularly in the second half . What did affect the game was the arrival of Druro in the second half. A must start for me. Got us going and gave them some frights toward the end. Draycs and then Jordan towards the end came on. Draycs with a tremendous volley almost gave us our second just before the end. Tempers became frayed at this point and the fifteen took Matt clean out of the park with a tackle. Outrageous, and that started a right old melee. Red and yellow dished out but I think the real culprit escaped with a yellow. I think that we have a terrific group of players at the club, but we are not getting the best from them with this lop side shape of the team, seems to induce us to play far too direct, In my opinion.

Our goal was a beauty. Druso shaped to take it but rolled it to his left giving Alfie a sight of goal. He scored with a beautiful left-footer to the top corner. which Made the defeat a little easier to take !!

Can’t argue with that. I’m a big fan on the 3 upfront, but it seems only against the lesser teams. Playing 3 upfront, with Scott Heard always very attacking away at Worthing and Wrexham seems a little Naive. Sometimes I think you just have to look hard to beat rather than to set up to outscore.

Gerry, your being too kind, there are no positives to take from that game. This one we needed to turn up to and it did not happen. Completely ignored the left hand side leaving out arguably our most effective attacking flank. Consistently booting the ball up the right side. Worthing show that they train and rarely gave the ball away ( if at all ) where as we misplaced passes numerous times. I agree about the new lad playing on the left, whats that all about ? Unless Kieron is injured, that just says he is better then you ! Tactics all wrong last night IMO. Still its honors even and we were going to struggle to catch them anyway. We dust ourselves down and go again etc etc

I have always respected your club as being the team in Kent that play football the right way. Good flowing football Smacked us up on the first game of the season we took that on the chin beat by the better side. But tonight the boot On the other foot you didn't take it on your chin. The player that started on the 8 year old child and mad him cry is Far short of disgraceful. The player must feel proud of himself. Sleep well fella you know whom you are......... ? if a child is old enough to stand there swearing at players he’s old enough to be told to **** off in return

Mr Racine did a better job with his elbow early on, should give him a few lessons.

Obertan good to see that as usual you are prepared to take a defeat with good grace. Embarrassing response but I really do admire your eyesight, hearing and lip reading skills. In a crowd of over 1000 you apparently heard a 9 year old child swearing at your player, you saw Racine elbow your bully boy forward and you saw Barker being the first and only player to react aggressively. Just try to accept as we did on the first day of the season, that last night you were soundly beaten by a far better team.

Good luck to them. They’ll win the league this season and finally get the promotion they’ve been setting up for for a few years. They’re a well run, well financed club who have done a lot of good things.
That said I won’t be sorry to see the back of them. there’s a strange air of arrogance around the support, as evidenced in Finnbar’s quotes above, that thinks their football and club is above this league and those in it. The crying from plenty in their ranks about how unfair it was that they were being denied their “destiny” while a pandemic was sweeping the country and people were dying left a sour taste. I still remember comments such as “why should we suffer just because kent can’t wash their hands properly” in December 2020 only for the rate in Worthing to soar above Folkestone and Margate within a fortnight.
But they’ll get it this season, on the pitch and not decided on PPG in an office at Isthmian League HQ. I’d much rather focus on us and what we’re doing, the crowds are good, the football is good and the club is thriving post-COVID, even if it doesn’t match their standards.
