This is a post I've ummed and aahed about for a while, but thought on balance I should do it ahead of the Bishop Stortford game on Tuesday. Apologies to anyone who finds it a bit of a shock...
On the same night as our wheels came off (temporarily, thank God) against Carshalton, my personal wheels came off as well. In plain terms, I had a stroke. I spent a few days under observation in the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, after which I was allowed home.
There are strokes and strokes - mine was the ruptured blood vessel kind rather than the clot blockage type. If it doesn't go again, I should make a reasonable recovery. Some of the effects have already worn off and the remaining ones are slowly improving, but slowly is the word. As long as the weather isn't too dire, I should be able to go to the Bishop Stortford game, although I'll be watching from the Granddad stand (about time) and if I'm a bit unsteady on my feet, it won't be because I've been overdoing it in Bar Invicta before the game.
Again, apologies for the nasty surprise, but I thought it best to put this on here, otherwise people might wonder what was up - and it saves having to ask me.
See you all Tuesday.
(Jambo, you'll be pleased to know that, since I'm not currently allowed to drive, I'm not moonlighting at Sittingbourne games just at the moment - in fact, I've missed three in the last two and a bit weeks; they didn't win any of them, so my son's not too despondent.)

Sorry to hear this news- glad you on the road to recovery. Weather forecast not clever for tomorrow, so likely to be cold even in Grandad stand. Hope it’s enjoyable!

I replied last night but it hasn't shown up on the thread! Hope you make a full recovery and I see your sense of humour is OK. Hurry back as Sittingbourne need your gate money!🤣

Weather forecast not clever for tomorrow, so likely to be cold even in Grandad stand. It's cold in there even in August though.

Thanks, all, for your kind words. Call me a big girl's blouse if you like, but, in view of today's lousy weather, I'm going to give this one a miss, even if it is on.

All the best, fingers crossed for a swift and full recovery. Don't blame you for missing tonight's match, it'll be a hardy bunch that do go along in this weather!
