I think it might actually be because nothing much has happened - there are actually a couple of updates. A like-for-like sub, Jordan for Kieron, and the usual last minute job to try and get an equaliser - Draycott for RJ. (OK, not last minute - 85th).

Shock horror - we conceded another two in stoppage time, so 3-0 Lewes in the end.

Wife and I arrived in Lewes early, nice lunch by the river, visit the Harvey's outlet shop, imbibe a couple more in a pub full of the best weirdos Lewes can muster and the trot off to the Dripping Pan. The day was lovely up until kick off and then we were treated to a huff and puff display by Folkestone, to be fair neither side were that great, but my early season optimism is or has faded at a rate of knots, Tyler, Ollie and Finn all gone, no plan b and worst of all and I have said this on many occasions, if Dave or Ade get injured we are well and truly f*****.

Some good insights Stumpy, I must have missed you though as I didn't catch sight of you at the dripping pan or the train station. Hope you had a safe trip back.

Forget the scoreline. This was no hammering. We will play worse than this and win this season. Their two late goals came after we had pushed on looking for an equalizer and got caught.
Everyone gave their all, and with a bit of luck and without a referee who was clearly not up to this highly competitive and quality game, the result could have been very different.
We changed our shape again today to accommodate injuries and returning players. Personally, I think we are a far better balanced and shaped team with two wingbacks. What tends to happen when we go 4-3-3 is we are lopsided with overloading the left-wing and leaving the right flank short of numbers.
So it proved. Their first and crucial game came from an overlap down their left where JV was up against a skillful left-back and their most dangerous player their left-winger That was in the 25th minute or so. Prior to that, we had been well in the game and had Ade not been blatantly pulled back by an outrageous arm lock we could have gone ahead. This happened right in front of this young ref. and he bottled it.
We shaded the second half and put lots of pressure on them but with too many early long balls in my view. Lacked width because of our shape I felt. When Jordan did come on towards the end for Kieron I thought we would go to wing-backs. But he went him up front on the left in a three. Made no sense to me and it didn't suit Jordan either.
Anyway, the lads gave their all and Callum kept Joe Taaylo9r quiet all game apart from when we pushed on at the end. Matt was masterful at the back, Rj was excellent too. As I said, play with this fervor and we will have no problems this seasons.
But let's go back to wing-backs. It suits the players we have AND we are less tempted to go long all the time.

The highlights seemed to show that we were well in it - plenty of possession and chances. However having not been at the game I wasn't going to be foolhardy enough to make judgement on that alone.

Some good insights Stumpy, I must have missed you though as I didn't catch sight of you at the dripping pan or the train station. Hope you had a safe trip back. Believe me, Jambo, I hope we can pick things up again, but 5 points from the last 15 and a first team squad of 13 players, not all of whom are fit, is a tad worrying. And I'm not sure why we have ditched the the system that was working so well for 4-3-3 and a long-ball game which has never worked for us and never will.

I agree John ( and I WAS at the game ).
Against Wingate, we were without Jordan, and as Kieron doesn't enjoy wing back we played him in front of Alfie and it worked.
The problem yesterday ( I watched from the cliff above the pitch.. got a birds eye view ! ) was that they were very strong down the left, the full pushed on and in front of him was Ollie Tanner. A big dangerous skillful winger who scores goals. Look at the vid. He makes and scores the important goal, the first. With assistance from the full-back overlapping.
We did look on top in the second half yes. But there was an awful lot of long ball involved with a ref that was ignoring the pulling and tugging of Ade and Dave which nullified that tactic a bit. Ade was laying laid the ball off more against Wingate too. (Ask Kieron), which helped.
Anyway, that's how I saw it, Others may have seen it differently. Let's have your views !

Another huff and puff performance with no real threat up front. When Jordan came on we should have reverted to wingbacks and Heardy pushing on ,over loading our left side was not working nor were the long balls.A depleted bench ,no training can only hamper our progression this season .Not sure if it would be fair ,to expect the team to train on another night as they have full time jobs .I'm getting to the fingers crossed mentality, hoping Wednesday will be a turning point 👍

They still get a decent wedge I'll bet. I did not go, so only seen the highlights. No threat at the front at the moment, at least the wing back formation brings other positions in to play in front of goal.
