Football matches etc are a drop in the ocean. There are a million ways you can catch this virus and football matches are just one of them. I am one of the ones that is at high risk to this virus. How long do they think this is going to last, a week, a month ? FFs its going to be months and months, they wont have a vaccine until next year, 60% of us have to catch it to develop any kind of immunity. The whole league will go bust if they wait until its gone to resume. I get that its a problem and we must all personally look after our own hygiene etc. But if they re start the games in 2 weeks time, what would have been the point ?

Case of damned if games are cancelled and damned if they’re not.For me it’s a case of carry on and take sensible choices on health and advice.

Delayed doing a podcast because I expected things to change massively over the week. Will get one out tomorrow that is as up to date as can be.

Assuming we track the pattern of Italy, then the peak of infection could be a couple of weeks away or more, then lockdown for a few weeks. So perhaps we are looking at a couple of months without a game. I think we will be ok, but his could bust a few clubs. For Instance how long is it since Tonbridge has had a game?

Key is that we’ve done this now whereas they haven’t. Need other measures taken though and doesn’t appear to be the case.

Anyway, if the league ends here and they use points per game to decide who goes up:
Worthing: 2.0882 Cray: 1.9393 Invicta: 1.9375 Hornchurch: 1.8787

This should give injured players a chance to recover.

Dover are still playing tomorrow as well. How can the National League still be going with bigger crowds, yet our league is postponed? I don’t get it.

Government are a disgrace leaving this down to leagues to do it. Doubt anything would have been done if a player and a manager hadn’t being tested positive in the last 24 hours.

Since beginning of Dec ,Tonbridge home games, two that month, one in January and one in Feb.Away to Concorde Rangers tomorrow then four home games on the trot before end of March, weather and Coronavirus permitting.Leagues above and below Betvictor are playing on ,as Paul from the idyllic isle of Thanet says it’s a joke.More likely to pick up this virus wandering up and down the supermarket aisles looking for the elusive toilet roll than in the open spaces.Or on commuter trains although a timely sneeze or cough should provide you a seat,or carriage to yourself 😷. What’s happened to the fighting British bulldog spirit, maybe the snowflakes aren’t helping

Maybe this is showing my age, but I really think that this is an unwarranted over-reaction by whoever made the decision. I was going with Chris to watch Sittingbourne v Chichester tomorrow. Given the usual size of the crowd and the fact that three sides of the ground accommodate spectators, everyone likely to go could have attended the game while simultaneously self-isolating.
The financial implications of this decision are worrying.

I agree with Stumpy this is a over reaction and the finance could cripple clubs at this level. But I don’t get how you can watch another team play like Sittingbourne if your passion is Folkestone I personally think you should follow the team you support home and away. It’s like myself being a long life season ticket holder at Millwall you would never see me going to watch Charlton. Let’s hope everyone sees sense soon and we can finish the league correctly and in time. And Stumpy stop wasting your money lol

I had a rummage on the Tonbridge forum. The financial situation is temporarily fixed through supporter donations (£20k), there is a GoFundMe page to buy pitch covers+drains and talk of ground sharing (they even mentionioned our ground). Long term is the dreaded 4G as their pitch is not fit for purpose.
So rather than pick up Coronavirus in a shopping centre, some will no doubt be going to spend their cash where football is actually happening!

I think a lot of clubs may need to set up JustGiving pages to try and offset losses on the gate and at the bar.
If Invicta were to set one up for each home game not played, I'd certainly consider throwing a few coins in as I'm sure would many others. This crisis is not going away any time soon, and we'll need to all rally round if needed.

The financial implications of this decision are worrying. Age brings with it a certain amount of common sense and experience. First thing to learn is never to set out on a journey when you don't know where it leads you to. They say that they will review things as from March 21st. So do they expect everything to change by midweek ?--or are they going to make another Friday afternoon decision (when there still won't be any change) when programmes/ food /transport etc will already have been prepared. Having decided to act as they have done, where do they think we will all be in a few weeks time after the season is scheduled to finish. Will the current league placings stand ?--that would be pretty hard on clubs fighting for promotion or relegation. Perhaps this season can be extended through to April 2021 thus giving clubs the space to play up to 80 -odd games to decide things. If they have not considered the various options then they should not have made this move until or unless they absolutely have to.

Not sure about dragging the season thru to April 2021 stumps...Do think Betvictor taken a knee jerk reaction compared with the national league.Upto yesterday UK tests were 32,700 with just under 800 positive and 10 deaths some of which were elderly with underlying illness. In Kent,13 positive.I can understand large gatherings at big stadiums but attendance at non league games with a few 100 in the open air cannot be any worse than 100s visiting indoor supermarkets and malls. Are the U18s still playing ?

Not sure about dragging the season thru to April 2021 stumps... Trevor, that wasn't my suggestion and I don't see how it would work. Your point about supermarkets is a valid one - more people, certainly in the course of a day, than you are going to get at a non-league footy game and in a more confined space - particularly in the mass scramble for the last toilet-roll...

Stumpy stop wasting your money lol There was a time when I could do away games as well. It's all my son's fault - for some reason he started supporting Sittingbourne, years and years ago now, and he can't get himself there, so I'm lumbered. At least he pays for me to get in. Doesn't pay for the petrol though... And who do you think scouts all these players that we sign from them?
