For your time, effort and commitment to the club goings on you should get a complimentary pass anyway John. Heads up Bosses.

how does a laminate card cost £10 It doesn't; if you pay for somebody to do it, it costs about 20p per card. If you've got a laminating machine and do it yourself, it costs peanuts. I'm like you, I would rather have a card than have it on my phone, so I'll probably cough up the £10.

I'm like you, I would rather have a card than have it on my phone, so I'll probably cough up the £10. The charge is, for want of a better word, a fee. Yes, the actual materials cost very little, but let's suppose that you are the only person who wants this. Someone (who possibly gets paid for their job) has to get all your information together, go into the next office, probably turn the light on, turn on the laminating machine, complete the details on the ticket, put it through the laminator, ensure it is delivered to you (post? Left in the club shop with documentation? Either takes a bit more time), file all the appropriate bits in the appropriate places. If you think about it, it's probably half an hour's work which, at the current minimum wage of £11.44, amounts to £5.72 and on top of this there is the cost of materials, electricity, rent of the office - all items which are paid and, surely, you should pay a contribution to these costs otherwise the club could go bankrupt (but not if this was the only similar transaction). Of course, if they are dealing with, say, a hundred of these then the unit cost would be cheaper, but is still an expense. That's why a charge is made. Hope you understand all this!
