It's occurred to me today that, only going to home games, I don't really know how good our team is or isn't.
Whatever gender it is, the pitch is shocking at the moment and has been for a few months now. A lot of us have been moaning about the quality of football we're seeing, the last three home games in particular, but you can't play football on a surface like that. It's as bad for the opposition as it is for us, but they don't have to play on it every other game. It must be a demoralising factor for our players and may well explain why, for most of the season, our away performances/results have been better than our home ones.
Rumour is that she/it is going to be ripped up at the end of the season and replaced with a new grass surface. Great if so, but if it doesn't get looked after better than the current one then it won't be long before it's just as bad.
I'm not a great fan of artificial pitches, I think a good grass pitch is always better, but I would take one over the current cabbage patch any day.

John I have seen us play at Margate many times now on their artificial pitch and it looks an excellent surface on which to play. No excuse not to play passing football plus the income potential is well documented. As you say re laying the turf is only likely to work if it is properly maintained and I would imagine will not work at all if the drainage issues are not sorted. Personally I think the way forward for football at our level is to have a 3G pitch if finances allow. I fear we may have missed the boat in respect of grants available.
