Looking at the weather I reckon it’s highly doubtful it will be on

Good - last game at Cheriton Road seems ages ago. Hoping to see my third win of the season - this is one I think we need to win.

Latest is that the match referee is going to do another pitch inspection - could be the Potter's Bar scenario all over again

This is fast becoming a standing joke . Is it on , is it off . Something needs sorting out . This is costing fans money .

Meanwhile those clubs around us or below all drawing or losing.
At the top all 4 teams in playoff places are playing each other.
Fascinating league at the moment.

The pitch was already sodden at 10.30 so anymore rain would have made it unplayable. That is why there are weather forecasts

The Pitch must of been really wet this morning at 10:30am might of been sunny but the last 24hrs we have had torrential rain and was forecast heavy rain today, They should of called the game off then instead of hour before kick off.

Damo you’ve quoted me as if I’m. Not telling the truth , iv been at the club most of the day , I was genuinely excited that the game would go ahead , you must have looked out the window and seen how the rain came down about 1pm ?

Why no comments on the cancellation from the official site?
At least a comment or a consideration of the fans who went to the ground for the second time in a few weeks having been told the game was ON.
just a word from our media team would be appreciated.

It is hardly rocket science - significant rainfall in Folkestone this week, particularly in recent days, on a badly maintained pitch. The weather this morning is largely irrelevant. The Met Office forecast was available to all to view this morning and showed heavy rain this afternoon. That’s exactly what happened. Another late postponement was completely avoidable.

I've got some sympathy with the club here because (a) you always want to play if at all possible, nobody wants a fixture pile up towards the end of the season, and (b) it's not the club's call. If the local ref comes at 10:30 and the pitch is playable, even if only just, then he's not going to call the game off; if the weather then turns crappy between then and kick off then it's game off and everyone is pissed off - on the other hand, if it doesn't, then everyone is pissed off because the game has been called off unnecessarily, so you can't win. As it happens, if it hadn't rained like it did at lunch time and we'd kicked off, we wouldn't have got to the end because of the rain that came down between 3 and 5.
I know they shut all the schools in Wales last week because of a weather forecast that didn't materialise, and everybody (rightly I would say) moaned about it. It's not like that in football and sometimes you're just unlucky. We happen to have been unlucky twice in a row. It's worse for the away fans who make the trip.
Having said what I have, I remember a New Year's Day game at Crawley long time ago when their pitch was frozen solid at 11am, but because the sun was out the decision was game on. When we got there (in the supporters club coach) at 1:30 the pitch was still frozen solid and the game was off. More recently, I drove to Eastbourne for a Sittingbourne game on a beautiful sunny day; once we got past Hastings things started to look a bit wet; there'd been a sudden torrential downpour in Sussex. When we got to the ground, game was off.
I know today was a bit different because it was never going to take much rain to put the game in severe jeopardy and it was forecast, but, like I said above, games don't get called off on the basis of forecasts and sh*t happens.

Recently decisions have been made on forecasts especially the West Country with teams that have been travelling down to play . Today I would have said it was one of those occasions we should have called it off at 10-30 with the forecast. You could possibly already call Tuesday off with the weather over the next couple of days not improving.

Its not the clubs decision, it's down to the local ref who inspected it at 10.30.
