I may have missed it but I would like to thank Neil Cugley for all his time and effort at Folkestone Invicta, we've had some great times and some bad times but Neil has stuck at it through thick and thin. Love him or loathe him I can't think of anyone who has done so much for our club both on and off the pitch. Enjoy your retirement Neil (and Pauline) it's been a great journey. Just don't get itchy feet and manage Doverđ¤Ł

Quite right. Mr Folkestone Invicta. And I'd like to state that, whatever may have been heard from the terraces in the past, he is neither 'fat' nor 'ugly' - just a legend of Folkestone. Thanks for everything Neil.

Jambo, regardless of specific gripes I have had in recent seasons, I actually agree with you. A bland statement that Neil is no longer director of football and no longer on the board of the club, with no word of thanks, seems totally inadequate given what Neil has done for the club over such a long period, and, coming in the same breath as the announcement of debt has given rise to some speculation that at least one person has hinted at on here and that is probably way wide of the mark. It would be nice to think that at some time this will be put right with some kind of acknowledgement, retrospective on the official web-site, maybe reproduced in the local papers. Just being shuffled out through the back door hardly seems appropriate to the end of a long era, unless Neil wanted it that way.

I doubt very much that those who have just joined the Board of FIFC know who Neil Cugley is or what he has done for this club . All they are interested in is their own agenda and yes how convenient to throw in the â debtâ just as Neil is leaving . Theyâll always be a place for you on the terraces amongst those whoâve appreciated what you have done .

Neil Cugley kept this club alive between himself and Jim Pellat at a time when most others had given up on the club. Paul Morgan came in to help rebuild to give us the foundations of what we have today. Which is, a club with real potential, but in need of investment and help with cash flow. Neil himself is well aware of this and was at our reunion of 70s Hythe town players ( picture taken with the current team before yesterday`s game and was, I noticed, in a friendly conversation with Josh Healy. We had to have investment now or the club would slide back into the lower leagues, especially as so many of our regular team left at the end of last season. The going rate for accomplished players in our league has risen astronomically, especially for Kent-based clubs. So whatever the reservations some may have about the nature of the takeover, Investment was critical at this time. I am not a lover of the Dugout bar, but if it brings in revenue { doing well apparently } great. I feel confident the new owners want the team to do well, and let's see how we go for the rest of the season. Need some points on the board soon though!

He has already got a road named after him in Dartford in recognition of his time spent there.

As Wilf already has a stand named after him , the upstairs hostelry could be renamed âBar Cugleyâ. This would serve as a tribute or sentiment according to your preference.

Hasn't the upstairs hostelry been closed, Geoff? Apologies if I've been misinformed, but that's what I've been told. Quite happy to be put right.

To be redefined I believe John, Iâm sure his skills would be welcome at Dover or Git if he wants to top up his pension pot!

Cugley's Lounge is great as sums him up when on touchline as manager just lounging around with no movement, limited comment, no use of subs and hand always on head shielding the sun. Nice bloke but should have gone yonks ago as current situ down to nepotism imo. Next month of games will be season defining methinks. Anyway Merry Xmas to all at FIFC and hope 2024 brings uptick in results. Keith in hampshire xxxxxxxxxxx

I think it should have been called Cugley's Corner.

Longer than I have been a regular supporter, that's for sure; he was already captaining the youth side and making occasional first team appearances from the bench when I caught the Invicta bug after a long hiatus during and after the decline of Folkestone Town.
