Someone tell me this is a joke.
Our chairman in the paper this week: "it came down to experience. Who can we find that has done it before and can get us to that level and beyond?"
So, a couple of months at Whitstable in the Kent League, followed by eight months at Margate before he was sacked over poor results constitutes "doing it before"?

I suppose finding someone prepared to work with the Director of Football reduces those interested in the manager's position considerably. Andy's appointment does not suggest any significant change, after all he has been working with those who have just been moved on. Most felt a completely new management team was needed if we were to progress and I feel we have been somewhat mislead following the chairman's press statement during the week. As Tigger said, nothing against Andy, new in his role here and any criticism of his appointment is not made personally against him from me anyway. I do wish him all the best.

Just to be clear, Phil, I don't bear Andy any ill will, I'm just angry at the chasm between the chairman's words in the paper and the actual appointment - and I don't think Andy is what we need right now. Mind you, as you say, no experienced manager is going to want to work under Cugs' "directorship" and I tend to think from this appointment that being happy to do so was one of the requirements on the job description. Be interesting to know who on the board actually pushed for this, although I think we can guess.
What a shambles we are right now.

So it seems that FIFC actually stands for Folkestone Incest Football Club after all the internal appointments in the last year or two. I agree with the other posters on this thread, but it probably means little extra to pay out in wages as Drury already a player. Will probably get an extra 1p per day for the extra responsibility, but all the time Last of the Summer Wine Cugley is around then not much will change imo.

There's a turnstile vacancy that needs filling if AD is relieved of his managerial duties prematurely.

No disrespect to Andy Drury who is an excellent player but , as I have said on many occasions , we needed to get someone in from OUTSIDE the club to bring fresh ideas and a different approach so yet another opportunity lost to give the club, and the fans , a bit of a boost as the situation is very depressing at the moment. People are still turning up in reasonable numbers but it could be even better and many performances like yesterday won’t help very much. I wonder how many people went home yesterday thinking’ I can’t wait till the next game’ . Not a lot I would imagine.

I hope I am wrong, but going by the team selection for the last two games, I am worried!

Colin, I simply looked at the last two teams selected and found them perplexing. I wish for us to do well, at least as much as anybody.

We need to get new players in which has to happen with the current size of the squad. Does Drury have connections that can bring a different calibre of players in? I don’t agree with the hate for Cugley I read on here, I think in the last 6 months it has proved how effective he has been to get us to step 3 over the years. I for one am looking forward to seeing how effective training more regularly is going to be and also what arrivals come in

And his net can be cast even further now we've moved training up the line. It's got potential to be a game changer for us.

Having looked at his football career in detail, it's definitely south-east based, with a lot in Kent. If he can use the contacts from that history (if the contacts are still in place), then likely he can cast his net wide:
Senior career Years Team Apps (Gls) 2001–2003 Sittingbourne 98 (26) 2003–2006 Gravesend & Northfleet 101 (19) 2006–2008 Lewes 72 (16) 2008–2010 Stevenage Borough 57 (7) 2010–2011 Luton Town 23 (6) 2011–2013 Ipswich Town 62 (2) 2011 → Crawley Town (loan) 13 (3) 2013–2014 Crawley Town 41 (5) 2014–2015 Luton Town 35 (2) 2015–2016 Eastleigh 53 (12) 2016–2019 Ebbsfleet United 99 (13) 2019–2020 Havant & Waterlooville 27 (3) 2020–2021 Sittingbourne 0 (0) 2021 Cray Wanderers 8 (1) 2022 Folkestone Invicta 12 (0) 2023 Chatham Town 12 (1) 2023– Folkestone Invicta 12 (0)
Managerial career 2022 Whitstable Town 2022 Margate 2023– Folkestone Invicta (player-manager)

I hope one of the first things he does is to bring Jordan Abbabio back from Faversham where he should not have gone in the first place. Bloody idiotic decision.

Can you just call a player back off loan or do they have to stay for the allotted time at the start of loan..

The loan deal for Jordan was very confusing at the start. Faversham said a season long arrangement, our management team said two months from 28th October, so would be back for the Xmas games. In any event it looks as if he will be there for another four weeks minimum, unless these arrangements can be amended. We shall wait and see.

Only bring him back if he’s going to be used otherwise we may lose him permanently and damage his confidence.

Surely there should be a clause in the loan agreement that a player can be called back in the event of injury or unavailability at the parent club. And if not there should be.

Josh told us he is not back until January. He looked to leave as he had not been played. I feel that inferior players were. I am not the only one!
