I think in the conditions a point was fair. Let’s face it the weather won but for comedy value the ref was superb. Think a cross between Mr Bean and Basil Fawlty neither of whom have ever been to a football game!

A match that we never really got to grips with culminated in a number of strange substitutions by AD, poor game management and the loss of two points. I thought the referee had a decent first half, allowed a number of 50/50 challenges which many officials now seem to want to punish. He did speak to Seido early on though, I thought he had been pulled up for a number of fouls. He was warned presumably so should have been on guard not to pick up a second yellow. Kicking with the wind second half I was expecting us to camp in their half and go on to win the game comfortably. Didn't happen,Cray improved and we seemed reluctant to push men forward. Our second goal came against the run of play but should then have been game over. We lost it from here, Collins for Dave Smith you would have thought, run the channels, long ball outlet. Bizarrely no, Derry on his own, no support, another central defender instead and a centre half pushed into midfield. Wingbacks playing more as fullbacks we just invited Cray onto us. Allsop off, Collins on then Seido second yellow! Complete shambles followed, played last 10mins with a back 7 only Rance and Derry making any attempt to press the ball. Collins ends up at right back?? Naive game plan if there was one. Yes Heardy was missed again. Work in progress still I hope.

I don't agree with you, Phil, on the ref having a good first half. It seemed that he let the 50/50 challenges go when it was them fouling, but always pulled us up.
I do agree with you about the way we played in the last quarter of the game. That's the second home game out of three that we have drawn when we should have won by surrendering the initiative, allowing the opposition all the possession, dropping deep and trying to defend our goal purely by weight of numbers. Andy Drury himself said that we were wrong to do that against Carshalton, but we did the same thing yesterday, with the same result.

No less than our old friend Jamie Crellin who we crossed swords with on several occasions during his time with Worthing, fairly sure he was sent off at least once and probably persuaded refs to send of one of ours as well.

The adage, offence being the best means of attack is as old as football itself Phil. They played the better football against the wind in that second half, but with the sending-off of Sanogo, we decided to sit back and defend. can be justified sometimes, and if the ref hadn't played over eight minutes of added time it would have worked.
I agree that some of the substitutions could be queried. But I feel more confident now than a few weeks back that we will be ok.

Whether you attack or defend Gerry you need an outlet up front and when the other side have possession, especially in your half, you must put pressure on the ball. In the last 15 mins we had/did neither and before that we were playing with a back five.

Balance not quite right yet Phil. Wing backs, if you play them , have to have the ability to go past defenders sometimes , without Byron I don’t see that. Too many long balls to Derry a feature last night also.
Still a work in progress , but those around me agreed that at last we at least have some fight in the side !

Both the Cray goals could have been cleared in the scramble. Sometimes they just go in I suppose.

A quick one on our shape, given the players we have. When Toby Byron is back he gives us a thrust down the left from the full-back position. I would get Jordan back { if possible } and play him on the right side of midfield ( full back behind him } these changes would give us more width in attack. Just musing....

Highlights (from Grandad stand - I assume due to the bad weather)
