FT 3-3 Oh well. Mind you Carshalton a top 10 team. We're moving forward. Only 1 defeat this entire year so far.

Frustrating - first half was best I've seen us play this season; second half, for whatever reason (lack of confidence, tiredness?), we surrendered the initiative, dropped ever deeper and did little going forward; pretty inevitable that we would concede eventually.
Defending is still shaky, but midfield looking better, plus Tom Derry and Smiffy up front played well, especially in the first half.
We're definitely improving, but still got some way to go.

The thing is, at this moment in time we are still a work in progress, but gradual improvements can be seen in different areas of the side.
Carshalton are a bit of a form team at the moment, so a draw is not a bad result, particularly as we managed to score three good goals against them.
Their number nineteen Babajide was a thorn in our side all game { as he was up at theirs } scored two, and with a clever near post flick made their first after ten minutes.
But there's much more team spirit about our current side and with two goals from the prolific Tom Derry and with one from Sanago we went in at the break 3-2 to the good.
You could see why this Carshalton team have been doing well by the way they came at us in the second half.
Their equalizer came, inevitably, from Babajide. Getting to a low cross first and flicking it past our keeper. After that, the game was open and could easily have gone either way.
Louis Collins came on for Dave Smith { good game from him today } and rather belatedly { I felt } Ade Cole for Allsopp, who had had a good home debut, maybe Cole might have just given us that something different.
But, that was a very important point for the lads today, and gets us nearer the goal of safety.
The sooner the better. COYS!

Decent performance today. Work rate good. Great finishing for the goals and quality crosses into the box . Switched off after we scored our opener. Defending was poor. Second half felt we never got going. Left the substitutions too late and got punished. They always seem to have an overload down the right wing which I was surprised wasn’t picked up on . We would have lost this earlier in the season but hung on for a deserved point.

Thought it was a bit low, but it was 90 more than were at Dover today The ref had a fairly good game although I did think in the second half he penalised us for some trivial matters but let Carshalton get away with exactly the same offence .

Anyone else think the ref made some bizarre decisions ? He seemed to change his approach at half time. I thought he reffed the first half well, but the second not so well. I guess the decision none of us agreed with was the yellow card for Tom Derry: yes, it was a firm challenge at speed, but his foot wasn't raised, he played the ball not the man and their player wasn't touched, didn't go down, didn't appeal and was just going to get on with taking the throw in. Obviously Andy Drury didn't understand the decision either and got a red card for politely querying it On a different note, As "Gazza" has said, their number 19 was constantly getting the ball in acres of space on our left flank and it hurt us. Do you not think that we should have made a tactical adjustment to nullify that, because we didn't appear to do so at all?

I thought the referee was like most referees but he did use the advantage rule very well.

Their number nineteen is an exceptional player at our level. Very hard to stop him short of man marking him. Could have been an option in his case.

Yes as good as our system was the second half saw the pressure coming down that side man marking may of been an idea . The space behind them there was also something we could have used in our favour.

I think Andy should be advised to concentrate on the football and not be drawn into blaming the officials when things don't go our way. Ridiculous to think there is some form of vendetta against us. The ref clearly got it wrong with Tom Derry's tackle but that was not the reason we could not hold on to our lead. Yes we played well 1st half but I thought we were on the back foot for most of the 2nd. We now have a strong bench and we should have used Scott and Ade Cole, I did think we missed their energy. If Andy is going to be successful here, and I hope he is,he would do better to reflect on his own performance and perhaps consider what he could have done differently.

One good reason why not to interview a manager straight after a match, let them calm down,to say later in the week after they have got their head straight then go from there, now I wasn't there, just going on from what has been said and listening to the interview..

You're right, John. Cugs used to say some ill-advised things in interviews immediately after disappointing results, it's kind of human nature. Not a very good or sensible interview by Andy, but he was probably still steaming from the Derry incident and his red card, and obviously unhappy about the reffing last Tuesday, but I haven't seen any signs of refs treating us unfavourably this season - certainly not at home... As Phil has said above, Andy needs to concentrate on the football - and he no doubt does most of the time.

Cole and Heardie substitutions far too late. I agree Phil. First half showed that the team is making progress, gradually.
