4th from bottom and in a regation spot now. No need to panic, the commercial success of signing up a few dart and pool teams to the dugout is what success is measured by these days it seems.

No passion , No organisation, whoever was in the dugout on the pitch was quiet. Tackling non existent passing poor . Left at 4-0 first time I’ve left a game early. Are the academy lads registered so we can use them Saturday?

Hastings showed today it is possible to play decent football on our cabbage patch. But it is much easier when the opposition have no apparent game plan, no energy and no apparent appetite for the game. I would normally say new manager, a number of new players then perhaps they need time. But I saw no positives today. Half time 2-0 down changes necessary. The two front men, couldn't tell you their names, had been poor and we were to easy to play through. So Smithy to come on alongside Derry and Heardie in midfield? Smithy came on and Penn a midfielder off. Baffling and we concede another three, could have been more. The new players are Drury's but they are not busting a gut for him. Bottom four,Drury looks out of his depth. Can't see any compelling reasons to continue with him. So where does this leave us? A poor gate today, expecting over a 1000 for Boxing Day. Other Kent clubs thriving. Those running the club have no football experience and it is beginning to show. Plenty of money spent and all loaded against the club in the form of loans. I doubt that the income currently generated within the club meets expenditure so fear that the club's debt is only increasing. I am bound to ask why were all these individuals asked to become directors of the football club? Did those running the club see a business plan and understand that the money being spent was going to show as a debt against the club? Why were we £70k in debt at the end of last season? This after cash injections of £30k from Alcaline, the sale of Yussef and a cash injection by Josh Healy in January this year. We need answers to these questions. The financial support we had from Paul Morgan during his time here was not left as a debt against the club. Pity those at the club didn't back him.

I can't comment on the business side of the club as, like others, I am not privy to that side of things.
We were outclassed today by a team that was not better than us last season. What has changed for us and them since then?
Firstly, their young manager has come in with a way of playing that he believes in. Possession based with young skilled Acadamy players heavily involved. Added to several good experienced semi-pros all buying into this way of playing. They also had some impressive individuals. The ten down the left we could not handle OR the tall eleven. So skillful for such a tall player!
The young number nine in midfield ( nineteen apparently !) virtually ran the show.
We, on the other hand, were a collection of not bad players, some excellent individuals amongst them , but that was the whole point. We played as a collection of individuals with no cohesive strategy. Understandable to a point, in that so many are newly signed players.
So now it is backs to the wall to make sure that we stay in this league.
My feeling is that 4-3-3 does not suit the players we have at the moment. Centre forward is far too isolated. Derry, and for that matter Smith, play off people and would be far more effective a a pairing up top.
We have the centre backs and wing backs to go 3- 5-2. At least try it! The set up is not working at the moment, so why continue persisting with it?
Next game against Hashtag Utd { stupid name for a team} is critical. We must win it. COYS….Shape up!!!

Derry looked overweight and disinterested even when we had the ball let alone when we hadn't. His main preoccupation seemed to be preening his ponytail. Hastings played through our lines today at will, and that started with Derry's non-contribution out of possession. Drury was routinely bypassed too and with Scott Heard not called upon we had little in the engine room despite the efforts of Byron, Sanogo, Boachie and Soares Jr, all worth a mention for trying. There were chances in the first half and we could have gone in on terms, but any thoughts of a second half comeback were scotched by giving away a stupid penalty - Coleman felling the Hastings player with the ball running away from trouble. A rudderless performance. Get some of the youth players to step up.

No because lots of people had gone home.
Thank you to John Law for switching the floodlights on, being stand in Shopkeeper and litterpicking as usual after the match with Ludo and others.
Thanks also to the Hastings United supporters celebrating their win behind the goal for helping pick up the rubbish too.

Spoke to their young manager after the game in the bar.
They look like a different team from last season, especially the way they play now. He said that they have several young players who have come through their academy and are comfortable with the type of possession football he encourages. Add to that some experienced players like the ten and eleven who have bought into the system.
Because they have local players they have switched back to training on their full-length pitch. Three times a week. Mondays are optional. Maybe some lessons for our future development?
