Only 4 games on in our league today. Many the others off for waterlogged pitches except for 2 plastic pitch clubs where covid is the reason.
Meanwhile Dover vs Notts County called off 2 hours before kick off! Some Notts fans gone to Hythe but that's off also. Notts fans and officials livid...

It did look like results were going our way in the few games that are beling played. Enfield and Lewes were drawing with each other at half time and Kingstonian were 2-1 down at Brightlingsea - but things have changed: Lewes are now 4-1 up and Enfield and Brightlingsea seem to have imploded in the second half, 4-2 to K's now.

Bishop's Stortford lost though. If they had won they would have gone above us.

See Finn O’Mara is a regular starter and goal scorer for Hastings..scored again today. Think he has now knocked in 5 goals for Hastings.

He seems to be getting his mojo back at Hastings. I hope the terms of his loan allow us to get him back at short notice if needed - we're not exactly awash with defensive cover.

He could have got it back here if he had been given more game time. Seemed to fall out of favour for some reason.

Stumpy, i hit the wrong key - sorry dyslexia keyboard here. He has in fact scored 3 goals - East Grinstead, Whitehawk and Faversham. A moot point but really worth a discussion on this forum. We somehow need/must have to make room for him somewhere in a rotating starting XI. You can also throw Jordan Wright into this moot conundrum - NC/ME/RE favourite in the back link is obviously the rigid back four of JV/CD/MN/AP but some out of the box thinking with tactics/training must be deployed in creating fluidity from a transitive 3-5.2 to a rigid 4-4-2 or an attacking 4-1-3.2 - somehow NC has to find and regularly intigrate Jordan, Finn along with Keiron McCann in the midfield and decide on the best role for each game for AP. Is Alfie Paxman an out and out attacking left wingback or attacking midfielder - is his role to defend or creativity for the forward line - if so 3-5-2 works with Jordan taking the left wing back but that leaves the midfield short of power houses leaving us out-muscled on fast artificial pitches as they have to cover a lot of work, with covering and masterminding attacks with delivery of good and accurate passes on heavy or wet ground. Thus this tactic does not work on heavy pitches because it requires a lot of pace from the wing backs ploughing a farrow down the wings in muddy conditions - hence why the shift back to 4-4-2 after Carshalton. Yet this 4-4-2 didn't work at Margate where we needed more pace and width and perhaps a shift to 4-1-3-2 may have created that first goal that may have changed the outcome. The four key players to shifting tactics regularly and adapting to the environment are the employment of AP/KM/JW and surely FO'M - they don't have one specific role but are multi-tasking units. This jigsaw puzzle must be a cause of chat amongst Neil/Michael/Roland in pondering how to change scenarios and tactics in preparation and as the game unfolds. If this sticky problem with Finn is not rectified with some guarantee of if you work hard in training and along with taking opportunities, he will be employed with an even distribution of playing time, otherwise he will be off in the summer and signing for Hastings. Sorry to say it - rather like the way Joe Taylor was treated in 2017. I believe Finn o'Mara is a player that needs an arm around him, needs the cajoling of coaching staff to show him bundles of admiration and appreciation - he thrives off people and the coaching staff shaping him into a good defender, a very useful midfielder (utility man) and also a man who can score goals and an essential squad player (this is a two way flow of effort from coaching staff to player, player to coaching staff) - attributes that we must embrace in the squad - play him more often, responsibly, sensibly and we can reap the rewards. When he arrived at Invicta everyone was buzzing over his ability, style and determination. Otherwise if we fail on setting sensible conditions for Finn O'Mara then next season he will be in colours of Hastings Utd full time. The Hastings fans love him and they're really pushing for him to sign for them in the summer. We don't want another potential Joe Taylor scenario again.

Stumpy, i hit the wrong key - sorry dyslexia keyboard here. He has in fact scored 3 goals - East Grinstead, Whitehawk and Faversham. I could have been clearer - when I said Finn had scored twice, I meant that he scored twice against Faversham on Saturday - so now he's got four goals. I generally agree with the rest of your longish post, but I don't think it's going to happen; Cugs just isn't comfortable with rotation, same as he's nervous about using subs. As for Joe Taylor - we had one of the best two or three strikers in the league and left him to fester on the bench until injuries brought him into the starting line-up and he scored a hatful of goals in what was left of that season. Our loss has definitely been Cray's and now Lewes's gain. I didn't understand it at the time and still don't (only Cugs knows why he didn't start him/bring him on way more often) - but it's in the past and this season we are as good as any other team in the league when it comes to scoring goals.

I see that Neil says that it will a long day with a 7.30 am start. With a 5.30 kick off and just under a 5 hour drive, how pubs are they stopping at on the way?

5 hour drive, how pubs are they stopping at on the way? If they have the same coach driver as we had for the 1st round cup tie at Chester a few years back, none - and none on the way back either.

Well said jambo yes are they supposed to travel for 5/6 hrs and go straight out there and play so we can then moan when they look sluggish because they never had a chance of and lunch and a rest.Yes its a long day for the lads but going early gets them there early and a chance to rest up and get nourished and ready..

FWIW Horsham/YIR are currently live streaming their home game with Enfield Town (2-2 after 25). As such it is possible they may stream this fixture when it is rearranged for a midweek.
