Hope he's over it soon - we're not exactly awash with cover.
As for tonight's result, a late equaliser is always positive, but we need to start winning again if we want to make the play offs - statement of the obvious, I know...

We cannot fault the lads for effort tonight. We came back from 2-1 to come within inches of winning the game with the last kick.
But realistically if we are serious about promotion, we have to be winning games like tonight. We started well. Got an early goal and looked like we might run away with it. But personally, I thought we were shapeless and unbalanced in our formation again tonight and the performance soon dropped off and they came back into it.
Ronnie Dolan and Ade were unavailable. But Luke Freeman was on the bench and stayed there until the eightieth minute when he came on and ignited that last ten minutes. We have arguably two of the best wing-backs in the league but we start with a lopsided line out, Alfie and Kieron both down the left flank and nothing that I could deduct on the right.
I could not tell you where Jordan was supposed to be playing, Anywhere but where he is best, namely, right wing-back. There is no reason why Kieron could not have played instead of Ronnie ( he was excellent tonight too, as was Alfie ) in midfield, and we could have played Foreman up top for Ade.
I don't understand why when we find a formation that suits the players we have, play terrifically and attract big crowds, we change it. Jordan was injured and is back. Play him in where we get the best from him. Alfie in my opinion is more valuable to the side pushed on as a wingback. More space for him too to run into. Kieron is a skillful, tough, fit player. Don't tell me he can't adjust to midfield.
Well, there's my rant out of the way. So to get back to tonight, the positives are, the terrific spirit in the team and the potential to be the best team in the league ( witness Eastleigh ) properly shaped and selected. So, we take the draw and move on, COYS!

As usual Gerryhan pretty much nails it. Take most of the posts from the last few games and just apply them again here. The lads work hard within their set up, but it does not get the best from them. I cannot see how the management team can look at the game last night and say '' Yes this is working ''

For me the game changed in the last 10 minutes .when Ollie Freeman came on for Ian Dracott , Alfie needs to be more forward to be more of a threat. we had 4 good chances to win the game .so please play the team that finished last nights game on Saturday. Rant over!!

So, I'm going to have to disagree with Gerry, not totally. Just on the shape aspect. I'm also a big fan of Jordan and Alfie. And last night they both did have quiet games, on the ball Alfie wasn't as his best, however, defending he was superb. The formation we played was pretty obvious, a 4-3-3. With Jordan right of the attacking 3, which he did look a little out of sorts for periods of the game, but maybe because he hasn't played lately, on another night he could have had 3 goals. 1 of which was a yard out. We was by far the better team, high tempo and actually running beyond their back line which was nice to see. A lot of positives to take home. I thought 3-5-2 had run it's course, teams really knew how to play against us, one down the middle and two very high and wide wingers. What Gerry didn't comment on was how good Dave Smith was last night, holding the ball up, bringing others into play. Looked so much better. Also agree that Ollie Freeman looked positive and lively when he came on, certain he is going the be a real asset.

There is an agree to disagree element here because I believe the wing back system plays to our players strengths and is difficult to defend against when we do it well. Also Dave did do well holding the ball up and trying to bring others into play. BUT.... that is not his main job ! He should be in front of goal and available for the ball to shoot, something that did not happen last night, he was everywhere but in a position to shoot. When the wing back system is used the long ball is used far less and this leaves Ade and Dave available in the centre for the crosses in from the flanks, is it any coincidence that our goals have dried up recently ?

I’m not sure the lack of goals is due to the change in formation. I don’t think they have necessarily dried up, we just seem very hit and miss at the minute. Hornchurch and Chesthunt both 0-0, we played 3-5-2. Carlshalton a 5-0 loss, we played 3-5-2. I think we make plenty of chances in every game we play, whatever formation. Just depends if we make them count.

I agree with Realfan on one point. Dave Smith was outstanding last night and looks like a real prospect.
But are you serious Realfan ? Jordon upfront in a three ? He is a terrific wingback, creative going forward, and good defensively. but up top in a three! This is the type of team selection that is weakening the side in my opinion.

I’m just saying that’s where he was playing last night. I’m not saying that’s his best position. If he scored a couple last night, which he was very capable of doing, it paints a different picture.
