Played well enough, unlucky not to have won. Once again totally inept use or non use of the bench. Players visibly tired in the last 20-30 minutes, yet left on the pitch and offering very little. Not a go at the players, they gave their all, but it's a squad game - use it!

A game we had to win, but didn't really deserve to in the end.
No Jerson, gone out on loan to Cray Valley PM. He wasn't missed, as Roman Campbell had a good debut. Jo didn't start - what a surprise - not...What was a real surprise was Draycs starting in midfield, apparently because Enfield are a fairly physical side and Cugs thought Tyler might struggle against that. It didn't seem a very good choice to a lot of us and the game bore that out.
Went behind to what was apparently a class goal - I was still in the bar - but recovered well, got the equaliser and finished the first half on top. As we often do, we started the second half very positively and were unlucky more than once not to take the lead. BUT, after pressuring them relentlessly for 15 minutes, we ran out of steam, especially Draycs. As ever, our genius manager either didn't notice or was afraid to change it because we weren't actually losing, and didn't bring anyone on to freshen it up even though it was desperately needed. About 10 minutes from the end he brought Jo on because, you know, an extra forward might get you a goal. Weirdly the player to go off was Kieron who still had plenty of energy when a couple of others, Draycs in particular, were reduced to walking pace. Brainless. To be honest, having dominated most of the first hour, we could easily have lost it in the last half hour so it was almost a relief when the whistle went. But really it was two points spunked.
And so our slide down the table continues. We're probably not going to catch Worthing now, but finishing top 3 is hugely important. On current form, we're not going to do that.

A game we could have won but for a really good performance from the Enfield keeper with the Ira freekick and JV's effort superbly saved. Some scrambled clearances to boot. Unlike Stumpy I thought we were unlucky not to have taken the 3 points. Agree that Draycs was running out of steam so maybe have swapped him for JTH instead of Kieron maybe. Not convinced Joh has earned a starting position yet but more than happy to be ridiculed for that comment just like our management seem to. Roman had a good debut winning everything in the air and not bad with his feet either, put in a couple of decent balls that were missed by inches! Still in the play offs and our best performance in 4 games for me. It won't be long before Stumpy is made manager.

It was a superb stop from a great free kick. Good goalkeeping Good in slow motion from a different angle Dunc - for some reason this got posted twice; I've deleted the second one (I did check that it was exactly the same first). Trust OK. Stumpy.

Unlike Stumpy I thought we were unlucky not to have taken the 3 points... Still in the play offs and our best performance in 4 games for me. It won't be long before Stumpy is made manager. Just to be clear, I thought we were the best side for the first 60 minutes and, yes, we were unlucky not to take the lead (thought I said that), but the last half hour was different and we could so easily have lost. It was certainly a better performance than the last two games I've seen - but it could hardly have been worse, could it? I wasn't really moaning about the performance, I was moaning, as ever, about our manager's inability (or refusal, or whatever it is) to make decent (any) use of the bench - it's not as if we didn't have some good players on it.

It was a superb stop from a great free kick. Good goalkeeping Yep, their keeper had a good game. And he didn't wind us all up with any time-wasting either (prick from Carshalton please take note), which suggests that Enfield thought they were in with a real chance of winning.

Tough game. People may not fancy joh but let’s not measure him on 10 minutes of a game and add that to the stats sheet ! Good debut for Roman and long may that continue

I felt it was a big improvement on recent performances.
Our failure to capitalize on the chances created cost us the win. But it was a very good game of football in windy conditions and you have to admit that towards the end they too had some chances to win the game. Enfield are uncompromising , bordering on the cynical, particularly at the back, but we know that of old. So, if you get chances you have to punish them.
In the absence of either Ronnie Or Sam Hassler, we had to turn to Draycs to play in midfield. I thought, particularly in the second half he linked the play really well in midfield. I do agree that he did tire towards the end, I would have moved Kieron inside or brought on Finn and given young Tyler a run for the last twenty down that left. Mev was excellent again and ( deservedly ) goth the MOMTM award.
The new lad Roman made a promising start and the beginnings of a relationship with Ira look promising. Ira was not at his best today and time and again overran the ball when the option to shoot was on. One for the coaches to work on there!! But let's not be overcritical, this was a big step up from our poor recent performances.
I have to comment on a wonderful performance from their Keeper. One save in particular, from JV, was unbelievable, but he made a whole series of point-blank stops. Short for a keeper too. Did not look much over 5ft 8.
Some of our football today was great to watch, flowing and creative, just lacked that finish. On another day Ira would have had a hattrick given the chances he had. Got to get him to stop taking that extra step when clear. Today he wasted a number of good chances through dallying with the shot.
It was frustrating not getting the win today but it was an entertaining game for another big crowd of 576 or so.
Well done the lads.

Always pleased to see Ian Draycott in a Invicta. shirt but if Cugley knew that Enfield were physical side why didn’t he play Finn in that position as he can handle the physical stuff and, if I read the report of the Basildon game right, he did pretty well there. Along with Jo , Finn seems to be another player he seems to have a bit of a ‘down’ on . What was developing into a real attempt to win the league has now been made very unlikely due to the inept and erratic performance of the team management.

I have to say that Roman really did give his all. A great debut. Always up there when crosses came in. Great awareness. There was one moment when he skied it one on one. But his head did not drop. Man of the match for me. He had many a tustle with their number 5. Who, incidentally, was shouting f**' c**t the whole game. Roman was my man of the match. He can do a job for us. Yussuf has a replacement.

We all see and take different things from each game. For me, effort 100%, technical ability 50% today. We were on top for much of the game, but our attacks broke down with stray passes, giving the ball away too many times. Heardy needs to learn that the million dollar ball has its time, but that's not all the time. We lose possession so much through it when a more modest sensible ball keeps us on top. Difficult to gauge Roman today, needs a couple more games but Tyler looks as good a player as him. Effort is not enough, we need to find that bit of quality that makes the difference too.

Totally agree. Wasn’t good enough in that final third today. Personally thought Draycott linked it all up pretty well. For me McCann wasn’t at the races, hardly ever beat the first man. Ira needs to make that easy pass more. And agree that Heard doesn’t have to look for that killer ball every time. Roman looks a good addition, feel Ter Horst could play off him well on that left side. Brilliant taken goal by their forward. We make so much happen, with little reward.

“Their forward “ Billy Bricknall, one of the better paid players in this league, took his chance well, after Callum missed a chance to clear the ball and Tim was lobbed ,wind assisted ,from a fair way out from the cheriton road side of the pitch.Quite why Tim was so far out only he knows but the finish was like Draycs of old and not the first time he has gone walkabouts...Although there were no hand shakes before kick off it wasn’t long before players got to close quarters as new boy Roman in particular was fouled on a number of times by the uncompromising Enfield defence.

Looking back on the game I have some observations. Firstly : what happened with that first goal. Jesus christ. Off his line. Looking back Enfield scored the same kind of kick in 2018. Secondly. As an invicta fan, if VAR was in our league Tim did indeed handle it out of the box. Have to be true to that. He did. Much to the annoyance of the Enfield Thirdly we dominated second half. Great passing. Great corners. But when they have 6 at the back and park the bus what can you do. Welcome to Roman. Shame he did not get a debut goal but he was in the mix. Toe horst has a rival and that's what we need. Come on Folkestone

XJ I have mentioned on here a few times that we are missing the best midfield passers of the ball at the moment. Namely Ronnie Dolan and Sam Hassler. Heardie gives you lots of running and drive ( necessary!) but some of his link play is not strong.
Actually the reason we did not win yesterday was a failure to finish some really good moves off with a strike. You don't get a nanosecond in the box. Strike early!! should be the mantra in training for Ira.
Undeniably a big improvement on recent performances though and a solid first game for our new striker Roman!
